Traditional UK flavors, with a Van Nuys twist.

Taking inspiration from breweries and classic recipes found in the British Isles, we like to think we’re bringing a bit of tradition and admiration for the old ways, and modernizing them for today. Our beer, lovingly made on Calvert Street with the finest grains and malts, is most likely the best you’ll find in a former chop-shop.

At MacLeod, our beers are named after bagpipe tunes - a nod to our heritage and our founders’ love of piping. The beers of our little sister brand, Van Nuys Beer Co. (VNBC for short), are inspired by our neighborhood, and the surrounding streets in Van Nuys.

THE CLASSICS

  • THE LITTLE SPREE: YORKSHIRE PALE ALE

    A traditional Yorkshire-Style Pale Ale boasting effervescent floral and earthy aromas due to the use of Styrian Golding hops. A lighter colored English Pale Ale that finishes light and crisp, available on cask.

    4.7% ABV

  • THE KING'S TAXES: SCOTTISH EXPORT

    Our Scottish Export. The King's Taxes bridges between old and new interpretations of Scottish ales, using dark specialty malts for color and a bit of toastiness, available on cask.

  • BETTER DAYS: AMERICAN PALE ALE

    A moderate, refreshing pale ale with noticeable aroma, balanced by supporting malt flavors.

    5.5% ABV

    Hops: Citra, Apollo, Centinnial, Cascade.

  • DEAL WITH THE DEVIL: IPA

    A huge aroma of floral, citrus, and stone fruit supported by English Lager Malt and German Munich.

    7.5% ABV

    Hops: Chinook, Nugget, Altus, Mosaic

  • CUTTING BRACKEN: BROWN ALE

    Sweet chocolatey malty body, with a touch of hop bitterness to keep things interesting. We're 70% sure we know what Cutting Bracken means, but 100% sure this is your new favorite brown ale.

    5.5% ABV

  • THE LUCKYPENNY: E.S.B.

    Our Extra Special Bitter. A malt forward, English style classic. Notes of caramel, biscuit and citrus fruit.

    6% ABV

  • CUT AND DRY: IRISH DRY STOUT

    Coffee and dark chocolate on the nose is complimented with a creamy mouthfeel, and slight bitter dark roast coffee finish. The real perfect Irish Stout on Nitro.

    4.8% ABV

  • LOST IN LONDON: OATMEAL STOUT

    Easy drinking Oatmeal Stout with notes of coffee, dark chocolate and toasted bread. Not too sweet, not too dry, just right.

    5.0% ABV

SEASONAL

  • MURIETTA MILKSHAKE

    This Milkshake IPA is brewed with lactose and infused with various fruits (we’ve brewed iterations with mango, strawberry and banana), resulting in a milky, smooth body and sweet vanilla finish. Brewed with Mosaic and Citra hops, with tasting notes of tropical stone fruit, pine, and citrus.

    6.2% ABV

  • LH 453 TO MUNICH: OKTOBERFEST

    A malty, sweeter, Marzen-style Oktoberfest brewed with Hallertau Mittelfrüh hops. Your flight to Munich was cancelled, but at least you have a backyard, a grill loaded with Brats, and a few cans of our nobly hopped and lovingly brewed Oktoberfest. This beer was named by Ashley Randall.

    5.5% ABV

    Available during the Oktoberfest season.

  • BARON VON NUYS: FESTBEIR

    Our seasonal festbeir! While this light, crisp, easy-drinking party lager is traditionally drunk by the liter, two cans is only shy by about a shot of Schnapps.

    5.8% ABV

  • FLYNN THE CROW: CHERRY PORTER

    Smooth and roasty Porter with notes of chocolate and dark caramel. Underlying notes of oak and blackberry from the use of Pacific Gem hops. Finishes with a kiss of cherry.

    *Originally developed in our Staff Batch Brewing Program by one of our brewers. Due to it's popularity it is now a full scale batch releasing once a year for the holidays.

  • PADDY MCGINTY'S GOAT: IRISH RED ALE

    A balanced beer with a touch of caramel sweetness and light roast finish. Releases every year for St. Patrick's day. On Nitro and Draft.

    4.7% ABV

    Available in March for St. Patrick’s Day.
